Challenging the status quo in L&D.

Hi, I'm Julian.

About five years ago, I found my true passion in something I didn't even know existed back then: helping other people learn, grow, and become the best version of themselves.

About

There is honestly nothing that makes me happier—or helps me sleep better at night—than seeing someone who struggled and doubted themselves gain real confidence.

Seeing someone proud of their new skills, and watching them become even better at something than I am with my help—that truly fulfils me.

Growing up, I always assumed I’d end up working in tech. I’ve loved tinkering with computers and technology since I was ten years old.

Over the past few years, these two worlds have been coming closer and closer together, allowing me to combine both of my passions.

Today, AI is changing everything. The speed of it can honestly be a bit scary at times, myself included. But it also opens up opportunities to build things we could only dream of before. So I set myself a goal: test what AI can actually do, keep human learning design at the centre, and share everything I figure out along the way with the great L&D community.

What I focus on

Good learning design comes first

Tools change fast, but how humans learn doesn't.

AI can generate slides in minutes, but looking good isn't the same as making a real impact. AI doesn't know how to create behaviour change on its own. The solid instructional design principles that have to happen before you start building matter more than ever.

Challenging what's possible with AI

I make sure I stay up to date with the newest AI models every single day and translate what they actually mean for L&D.

For me, AI isn't just about producing courses faster or making them look prettier—it’s about fundamentally challenging and rethinking how learning can work.

Sharing with the community

The L&D community is one of the most supportive spaces I've ever experienced, and I'm genuinely grateful to be part of it.

Everything I learn, test, or build, I share openly—so we can figure out and shape the future of learning together.

Bringing the meaning back to learning

It genuinely shocked me how many people in big companies view L&D. Not as partners who help them grow, but as creators of endless, boring compliance modules—where people literally compete over who can click through fastest, sometimes with four screens open at once.

I want to change that. By using the possibilities of AI the right way, we can build training that people actually look forward to, that helps them succeed in their jobs, and that makes learning feel exciting again.

Challenge: click Next as fast as you can.

Not on My Team: Memories of a Ficus

A scenario-based course, rebuilt from a stakeholder’s AI-generated compliance training and told through the eyes of an office ficus who has seen it all. Built modularly, with the best AI tool for each layer.

AwardiSpring 2025

Winner — iSpring Course Creation Contest 2025

An interactive course on the history of customer support, told through a handful of short stories and built with iSpring Suite. It took first place in iSpring’s global course creation contest, recognised for its instructional design, storytelling and learner engagement.

Guest speaker — global L&D webinar

A live session for around 150 people. I took an award-winning course apart on screen and shared what to watch for when building one, and what I’d do differently today.

FeatureiSpring 2025

Featured expert — LMS implementation case study

iSpring featured me in a case study on rolling out and scaling an LMS: how it was set up, and how it drove onboarding and adoption across the business.

MentoringiSpring, ongoing

Mentor & course evaluator — iSpring Course Creation Contest

I mentor entrants in the contest and judge their submissions on instructional design, giving each structured feedback. Now for the second year running.

Beanly Studio

A free Claude Artifact that helps you create the best possible learning experiences with AI. Beanly walks you through the learning needs analysis and design decisions before you build — so when you hand the brief to Claude or any AI tool, it works from real context instead of guessing. Good analysis in, genuinely good learning out.
